Gerard Mas

Gerard Mas is a Barcelona-based sculptor. Defined by his beginnings as a restorer, his work stands out for using a figurative and realistic language, apparently academic, but loaded with irony and proper to visual poetry at the same time. He uses techniques as diverse as stone carving, wood carving, polychrome resin, ceramics or bronze, depending on what each work requires. Through these materials, he often glances at past times of Art History to imbue them with the look of our present. Imaginary Renaissance ladies, impossible classical sculptures or deified domestic animals, among others, live together in his particular universe
